TMBDOS! Intermission #20: "Nightmare" (1981)

Lee and Paul are on board to provide the first bit of bonus content for October 2017. They take a look at the bloody slasher film "Nightmare" (AKA "Nightmares in a Damaged Brain") from 1981. Does this video nasty still have an impact? How does it rate alongside similiar films like "Maniac" and "Don't Go into the House"? Is it a piece of shit like Tom Savini claims, whenever he's denying his involement on the film? All of this and slightly more!

No regular episode this week, but Lee managed to work in an Intermission episode. What's he been doing, what's coming up on the podcast next, and what's on board for the month of October? All of this is covered as well as reviews of "Fracture" (2007), "Under the Shadow" (2016), and "Outland" (1981). There's also a brief mention of the death of Frank Vincent and a bit more talk about the death of Harry Dean Stanton.

Lee comes back with an intermission episode. In this episode he runs down what's been going on and what to expect from the podcast in the near future. He plugs three podcasts he's been listening to as of late, and then he moves on to give short reviews of two films he recently watched: "Hard Times" (1975) & "Who'll Stop the Rain" (1978). There's also a special guest appearance by Lee Van Teeth!

As usual with these intermission episodes, the original plans fell through for an official episode, so here's a small fix for those who expect an episode every week. This time out friend of the show Kit Power has come through like a superstar to give you all a verbal beat-down of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), and then he has much more positive things to say about "The LEGO Batman Movie" (2017). Lee is also on this saying some things of less importance.

Fate has conspired against the regular podcasting plans this week so Lee is flying solo for an intermission episode. This week he shouts-out a podcast that mentioned TMBDOS! and goes over some of his recent DVD purchases. Then he looks at a list of upcoming horror films in 2017... and, well, he wasn't drunk enough to deal with it. Enjoy!

The second bit of bonus content for October 2016 contains a grab-bag of sorts. First off Lee provides a review of the short horror film "Lake Nowhere" (released 2016). Then guest reviewers James Murphy and Jack Graham chime in with some horror picks of their own to talk about.

Lee and Paul provide the first bit of bonus content for October 2016 with a casual chat about Lamberto Bava's "Demons" (1985) and "Demons 2" (1986). Although this is a listener request, take note that the usual level of research and prep work we do wasn't done here, as this is an intermission episode. Still, we think it's a pretty fun chat overall.

Because there could not be a regular episode this week, Daniel is filling in with a look at four different films. First up he looks at two sex comedies from the 1970s - "Guess What We Learned in School Today?" (1970) & "Jokes My Folks Never Told Me" (1978). Then he switches gears towards two Oscar contenders from 2015, "Spotlight" & "The Big Short".

This week Daniel stepped up and recorded an Intermission episode, as real life got in the way of the possibility of recording a regular episode. In this episode he covers a trio of classic westerns that were recently covered by the excellent Pex Lives podcast in their last two episodes. The films he covers are "The Hanging Tree" (1959); "My Darling Clementine" (1946), and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (1962). He ties the latter film in with his thoughts on the June 12th Orlando Nightclub Shooting.

It's just Lee flying solo this time out for the longest Intermission episode the podcast has done so far. Lee goes over some recent purchases and stuff he's viewed as of late, and then digs into his old blog's review archive for reviews of "Monster Brawl" & "The Thing", both from 2011, and then he runs down the plans for the podcast in the spring and summer months. It's still a fairly quick listen, so give it a spin if you fancy killing forty minutes.

Due to some real life issues, Lee could not put together a recording this week, so Daniel was cool enough to take the helm and record an intermission episode. Daniel briefly covers the movies and TV he's been watching in the last little while. Hopefully next week the entire gang will be back together for "M" from 1931.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled podcast with this short solocast by Lee. This is just a bit of a buffer until we get back to official episodes that have been postponed due to real life shit like work and leaving the house to do stuff. In this show Lee covers a couple of listener comments, what he's been watching, what's coming up on the podcast and a couple of plugs for podcasts Lee really loves.
